En este segmento de vehículos de lujo no pueden faltar dos vehículos de altas prestaciones que significan un paso más allá en el nivel de representación de la marca, dos vehículos tan especiales como los nuevos BMW X5 M Competition y BMW X6 M Competition, que incorporan mejoras en los sistemas de propulsión y que incorporan la tecnología de 48V, por primera vez en BMW M GmbH.
Con una batería de 48V que se carga mediante una recuperación adaptativa de alta eficiencia en frenadas y adelantamientos, un motor eléctrico que añade 9 kW/12 CV adicionales de potencia motriz y un nuevo motor M TwinPower Turbo V8 de 4,4 litros, este propulsor ofrece un par máximo de 750 Nm con una potencia máxima de 460 kW/625 CV que le permiten acelerar de 0 a 100 km/h en 3,9 segundos.
Todas estas prestaciones están gestionadas por la nueva caja de cambios M Steptronic de ocho velocidades con Drivelogic, con nueva configuración y cambio de marchas más preciso, nueva tracción total M xDrive con diferencial activo M en el eje trasero, la suspensión adaptativa M Professional con amortiguadores controlados electrónicamente y estabilización activa de balanceo, o la limitación del deslizamiento de las ruedas por primera vez en los modelos Competition de BMW X5 y X6 y que equipan llantas M de serie de 21 pulgadas delante y de 22 pulgadas detrás.
El puesto de conducción M con la pantalla curva BMW, los distintos elementos y embellecedores del habitáculo específicos M que añaden carácter sobre el equipamiento de las versiones "normales" de BMW X5 y X6, los asientos multifunción M, el sonido envolvente Harman Kardon de serie, una amplia selección de piezas BMW M Performance específicas, o los nuevos sistemas de ayuda a la conducción y los nuevos servicios digitales de BMW iDrive antes mencionados, configuran la exclusividad única de los modelos X5 M Competition y X6 M Competition.
